Real Wedding: Chantelle & Daniel’s Monochrome Romance

📍 Watersedge at Campbell’s Stores, Sydney

This wedding was the right way to do “no colour.” A modern black and white palette set the tone for a day that felt polished, opulent, and effortlessly cool. Chantelle and Daniel wanted a wedding that felt refined but still romantic with all the wow factor and none of the fluff.

The Ceremony

Set in a light-filled room overlooking the harbour, we intentionally draped off the view.

Wild, right?

But lighting matters, and instead of squinting through backlit photos, the couple got crisp, beautifully lit ceremony shots with a dreamlike floral backdrop.

Fluffy clouds of baby’s breath and hydrangea floated behind them as they stood elevated on a soft fabric-draped stage. The whole space felt like a quiet moment in time; textural, intimate, and deeply intentional.

The Reception

This is where monochrome got a glow-up. We styled luxe black velvet chairs, smoked glassware, and mirrored acrylic place cards into a tablescape that felt rich but restrained.

White florals were grouped en masse, hydrangeas, garden roses, and baby’s breath, kept to just a few varieties for maximum visual impact. Hundreds of white sand and dinner candles filtered between arrangements for that soft romantic glow.

At the front? A sweetheart table framed with a baby’s breath cloud and en masse candles, because main character energy was very much on the brief.

The Personal Touches

A personalised gin bar (his & hers cocktails).

Customised shots for every guest post-ceremony.

A bar wrapped in their names, because branding doesn’t stop at the invite.

The Real Reason This Wedding was Incredible?

They trusted the process.

They knew what vibe they were after, gave me a few reference points, and then backed off completely. Every time I asked a question, the answer was the same: “Whatever you think.”

And that’s the point… if your stylist gets it, you don’t need to micromanage. You just show up and enjoy it.
